KDZ is a 6 member ensemble
making music for movement and dance. Based in the Berkshire Region of Northeastern US, we We are fortunate enough to play to hundreds of smiling and dancing enthusiasts regularly at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health.
Whether it be through weekly dance classes, drum circles, weekend programs, special events or concerts performances
you are sure to move when you hear the music of KDZ.
Most of our songs and sounds are interpreted from
the rich musical traditions of Africa and the Caribbean. On our 1st release KDZ Live at Kripalu, all of the music is
traditional, yet with our own energetic arrangement.
Our newest album, Slang Rhythm
Speak, has given us a chance to break a bit from the traditional rhythms we've played for years and venture
out into our own sound. Still keeping true to our roots, this self-recorded, edited and produced album will contain
some traditional rhythms with special guests, old and new to spice it up a bit.
KDZ is available for events and activities and lead Yoga and Drumming programs through Handsdown, a small business started by KDZ's Shaun Laframboise and Allison Gemmel.
